ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification Class & Exam

ServSafe is a food safety training and certification course developed by the National Restaurant Association. Sysco San Francisco is pleased to offer regularly scheduled ServSafe classes out of our Fremont facility. Classes are available to Sysco customers only. A customer number is required to register.

Why take ServSafe?
The California Health & Safety Code (Sec. 113700-113700) requires that “Each food facility shall have an owner or employee who has successfully passed an approved and accredited food safety certification examination…. The certified owner or employee need not be present at the food facility during all hours of operation.”

How to Register:
Register by printing the form, or the retest form, identifying your chosen course date, and then mail or fax form to (510) 226-3488. Registration deadline is two weeks prior to the class start date. Call ahead for class availability. Class size is limited to 35 students. Course materials will be sent out to registrants once payment is received. Those who read the course materials prior to class score better on the exam and are more likely to pass.

Course Format:
ServSafe is offered in a one-day format for a total of 8 hours of classroom instruction. The test takes approximately one additional hour. Continental breakfast and lunch is included.

Scoring of the Test:
The test is 90 questions. A score of 67 (75%) is needed to pass. Tests are electronically scored and the results are received in approximately 3 weeks.

The ServSafe certificate issued upon successful completion of the exam must be kept on file at the food facility at all times and made available for the health inspector.
